Last month there was an interesting article in the main German daily, Frankfurter Allgemeine, about Polish plans to block German wind power exports because it is destabilizing the Polish electricity grid. The Polish grid operator PSE is installing equipment (phase shifting transformers) in the coming months. This situation seems to be the unintended consequence of Germany's new energy policy.

Seems to be a general problem. The Czechs announced something like this recently too.

Who will buy the costly and temperamental wind power? It may be best to bottle it as compressed air like the genie. Just rub the lamp when you want it to do some work. If the Germans want wind power in stead of nuclear, let them bottle it. Why waste the electric transmission line capacity?

Poland declares 8-GW offshore wind goal, onshore auction poised to be a success

Looks like Poland has decided to go and procure a whole bunch of wind power for themselves...
