The International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna maintains a database of advanced reactors: http://aris.iaea.org . The database contains several reactor designs, but no molten salt reactor/LFTR design has been submitted yet, although it possible to filter on "fluid fueled" reactors in the design description section.

So, who is going to submit a MSR/LFTR design to the IAEA ? I know Dr. Furukawa from Japan has proposed the Fuji MSR in the past and I think it would be a good candidate design to submit to the IAEA. Are there any other suitable MSR candidates ?

BTW, I also found the following design in the database, the KAMADO FBR. I never heard about it before, but it looks interesting:

http://aris.iaea.org/ARIS/reactors.cgi? ... utput=html .

Apparently, it uses carbon dioxide as coolant, like the British AGRs.

I received the form from IAEA that I need to fill out to get the LFTR in the database.

IAEA Launches New Version of Advanced Reactors Database

I'm actually in Vienna today at the IAEA and met with the man who runs this database on Wednesday. We'll be getting LFTR in there soon.

When the first LFTR is constructed, would it be considered an experimental reactor, or a demonstration/prototype reactor? I know that the MSRE developed a lot of knowledge, but a full LFTR would have many features that were not in the MSRE.

This would be great news, Mr. Kirk, and we partisans of the Flibe Energy design eagerly look forward to this ARIS update.
