Namely, I have repeatedly gotten the following error:

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Got error 28 from storage engine [1030]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

It seemed to arise somewhere between 9:40PM and 11:00PM AEST (GMT+10)

I've gotten the message a few times myself, but when I was trying to access the board. I've wondered if the server is overloaded with attempts, but there really shouldn't be too many for it to handle. I've told all the "bots" to go away from this site.

Sorry for all the problems--last night it was something to do with the cache permissions settings--oh well, the IT guy got it cleared up quickly! Thank you IT guy!

Attachments can be up to 1 MB.

Inline pictures are limited to 800 x 800 pixels to prevent total distortion of the screen. Jaro, I would recommend uploading your cross-section graphs as attachments rather than as inline displays. You can go to your user control panel to manage your attachments.

This poor performance that we are suffering through may be a problem with the database or just a database bug.

Such a performance bug shows up when the number of records in the database grows large and the database processes need to search through increasing numbers of complex interconnected database records. The site administrator may need to submit a bug report to the authors or supporters of this application. A new version of this application may be available with this performance problem fixed.

If nothing is done, one day in the near future the application will just lockup and the Energy From Thorium Discussion Forum will sadly be no more.

I had to throw a spammer off the forum today (laser). He/she/it posted the same post about 10 times and his site had all kinds of information about thorium plagarized from other sites (including this one) without attribution.

Don't spam. We've been pretty good about not having that problem on here.

The board is very slow and often doesn't load at all. :-(
I'm having Thorium energy withdrawal symptoms!

I'm sorry to hear that, but the malady sounds like a good one!

I did a major resequencing of the forum today, and currently there is a little piece of text in front of some of the forum sections that I'm trying to get rid of that says "no new posts"...bear with me as I try to figure out what that is, and post on here if you're having problems with any of the sections. If you can't post on here fire me off an email at alpha-sierra-whiskey-3-2-1 at gmail dot com.

UPDATE: I think I got the offending text to go away...

You all have probably noticed some massive changes on the forum today.

About 50 inactive users removed from the database (if they have been on in a year and a half I figure they aren't coming back).

Lots of old topics removed or merged.

Many new sections of the forum created to hopefully allow us to organize discussions better instead of letting "general discussion" turn into a total grab-bag.

Hundreds of topics moved to more appropriate locations (many of them new) on the forum.

I hope the changes are for the better. The stats right now are:

Total posts 15974 | Total topics 1092 | Total members 261

It works. (and can we change the name of the thread that the drive-by hit us with?)

I'm ready to chuck the thread if that guy doesn't show up again to defend his position.

Thanks for checking. I logged out, and could access the chloride forum, then logged back in and couldn't again. Weird.

OK, that's what I needed to know. I'll fix it.

UPDATE: Should be fixed now--Lars, I used your permissions and tried it out and it worked.

Thanks, fixed now for me.

Luke

Hi Kirk

Just thought I'd mention that now I need to login every time I visit EFT
Before I almost never logged in.

Maybe the cookie settings have been changed?

Did you try setting the “always log-on at start flag” when you logon?
