The flux spectrum is most optimal for U-238 since it is in the fast epithermal region, where the cross section for capture is rather high. For Th-232, the thermal cross section is the most significant. So the output will be lower for U-233. Yet it is written in several papers that the U-232 content will be higher.

And the fact if one uses MCF or ICF doesn't matter that much in spectrum or source....Besides the fact that ICF will always be in pulses.

A fusion neutron source supports a PURE thorium fuel cycle as a sub-critical breeder. Using U235 and/or PU239 must be denatured … its just the rules of the nuclear road.
