So.... Obama's "Blue Ribbon Commission" and eight years of inaction...all a total waste.

Yucca's getting interesting again...

Decades-old war over Yucca Mountain nuclear dump resumes under Trump budget plan

So here's the really short version of Yucca history: Republicans propose and advance Yucca for 12 years, Democrats dither and delay and dally for eight years, Republicans push and advance Yucca for eight years, Democrats dither and delay and "blue-ribbon-commission" and dally for eight years, Republicans push and advance Yucca...

Senator Heller "issues warning"? So, the Trump administration is supposed to do as he says or... what? He's going to vote against the nominee and toss a fit? I mean he has every right to toss a fit but it seems that there's at least a handful of people in Nevada that tried to play the federal government for fools. Senator Reid, as I recall, voted to fund the construction of this waste disposal site and then later comes back to oppose the waste being brought in. It seems that they were fine with getting a bunch of federal money to get jobs in the state but they don't actually want radioactive material put on the site.

I lost sympathy for Nevada a long time ago. They voted for these hypocrites, and votes have consequences. This process was started a long time ago with support from people from Nevada. Heller claiming that not all options have been considered and not giving some options himself just does not work for me. He can say there are other options, and I'm certain that there are, but this one was picked and stopping this now is just throwing money away.

I have more words on this but many of them are not suitable for a family friendly forum.

The state could be given an option.
Take over the mountain for maintenance without federal funds or let DOE do it and use it according to laws in force.

izens of Nevada should be charged with running a bait nsd switch scam. Either step out of the way, or repay all the costs involved with the Yucca Mt effort, with interest!

Perry says no decision made on interim nuclear waste storage in Nevada

Quote:
Energy Secretary Rick Perry clarified a previous statement on interim nuclear waste storage, telling a Senate subcommittee Wednesday that no decisions have been made on temporary sites for spent fuel in Texas, New Mexico or Nevada.

Personally I think interim storage in Nevada is dumb because then you'll just have to move the waste twice. I'd favor the old Paducah site for interim storage.
