Greenhouse warming researcher James Hansen stated in a recent paper that using nuclear energy to create electricity instead of dirty coal power plants has prevented 1.84 million deaths from the result of air pollution.

If he can specifically endorse development of MSR that would be even better.

The paper was free yesterday at http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/es3051197, and today it still is, but today, if you don't have an American Chemical Society ID, apparently you have to get one. It's free.

He specifically endorsed LFTR back in 2008 in a letter to President Obama.

It is an excellent, scientific and positive study for nuclear power.

Which is also why it isn't receiving much press from the mainstream media. Had the study been sloppy, unscientific, and negative about nuclear power, it would have made major headlines.

World’s Greatest Crime against Humanity and Nature

Quote:
R&D on advanced technologies, including thorium reactors with the potential to ameliorate remaining concerns about nuclear power, was stifled, seemingly because it was too promising. Powerful anti-nuclear forces had their way with the Democratic Party. “Green” organizations had indoctrinated themselves in anti-nuclear fervor, and their intransigence blinded them to the fact that they were nearly eliminating the one option for abundant clean electricity with inexhaustible fuel and a small planetary footprint.

Rolling Stone: Will We Miss Our Last Chance to Save the World From Climate Change?

Quote:
The world needs energy. We've got to develop a new generation of nuclear-power plants, which use thorium-fueled molten salt reactors [an alternative nuclear technology] that fundamentally cannot have a meltdown. These types of reactors also reduce nuclear waste to a very small fraction of what it is now. If we don't think about nuclear power, then we will leave a more dangerous world for young people.

I'd call that a pretty full-throated endorsement of thorium MSR.
