At their national convention, the Izaak Walton League approved a resolution
supporting "research into 4th generation nuclear reactors". The wording
is quite mild. The original wording "research and development" was changed
to "research" in committee. But after getting past the staff and two committees,
the floor vote was 90:10 in favor. IWL is I believe the first, major conservation
organization to change its all out opposition to nuclear.

The resolution was the work of one delegate who used his own money to travel to
various nuclear sites to learn about nuclear, and then expended immense effort
to push the resolution through.

Makes the rest of us look pretty bad.

He obviously believes that his organization is good-hearted, and can approach the issue in a more constructive way. Many progressive people and organizations have good intentions.

Regardless of how, it is a good sign.
