Iran completes process of eliminating enriched uranium

Thoughts? Were the sanctions placed upon Iran by the world powers hypocritical? Do you believe Iran when they said they were never seeking to produce nuclear weapons anyway?

The USA typically interprets Iran's lack of cooperation in international oversight as a sign of coveting nuclear weapons.

What is missing in that analysis is the factor of pride. Iran's leaders like Ahmedinnejad are very proud, to the point of being haughty and arrogant. US leaders also don't want to lose face or be thought feeble and compromising, so its a clash of pride really. Iran's leaders don't want to be a kneeling lapdog, they want to be independent and want to be recognized as a sovereign entity.

Relationships with Europe are much more level headed, well on this subject at least. It's too bad that pride results in economic problems (sanctions) so Iran's leaders end up not doing the right thing for their people. They could get so much more result, both economically and technically (in terms of nuclear tech development and international support) if they just allow IAEA inspectors to come and go as they please. Fortunately things are changing now with the new president (whats his name, Rohanni?) which appears able to let pride go slightly to get a large progression for Iran. He is so much better for the country's development than Ahmedinnejad.

NPT arm-twisting is holding the development of nuclear power without achieving the declared aim. Rogue states like n. Korea and Pakistan have nuclear weapons.
Use of thorium with enriched uranium, which has tremendous possibilities, is held up.
