Metalic thorium would dissolve in the salt, no? That was mentioned as one option for refuling, insert a metalic thorium rod until enough had dissolved.

Not much thorium will dissolve unless the fluid is sufficiently oxidizing. Have it nearly neutral. Expendable liner will not cause much harm except complicate the reprocessing.

eutectic alloy of nickel-thorium has melting point of 1303 K
move off the eutectic point to have more thorium or more nickel depending on properties needed.
still the eutectic temperature is higher than the operating temperature of most molten salt designs.
