Made in Alabama

Post by TerjeP » Nov 19, 2011 3:09 pm

I found the following interview regarding the declining cost advantage that China has in manufacturing relative to the USA. It is basically saying that with wages in China rising at 15-20% per annum, coupled with high shipping costs, and land prices, there is a drift towards shifting manufacturing out of China to the USA. And that this reversal of trend will become very significant within just five years from now.

However what made me feel it was relevant for here is what they said about Alabama where Flibe energy has it's headquarters. They were projecting that within five years Alabama will be one of the most cost effective places on the planet to manufacture things, all things considered.

Right idea, right times and also it seems right place.

To be honest, I wouldn't locate anything in Alabama.
