Terrestrial energy seem to be half a step ahead of others in making a build-able deign. Wish them godspeed along with the good sense to replace graphite with a low vapor pressure moderator-coolant. Something like an engine oil may do.

Having just read the thread on our plutonium disposal problem I am compelled to ask if using plutonium as fuel came up.

Also, how much discussion of using nuclear power plants as a source of medical and industrial isotopes was there? There is much demand for RTG material and isotopes for medical uses like bone scans and cancer treatment.

If they use 20%LEU in the liquid fuel, they could use some thorium profitably. They could use it to double up as metallic cladding for whatever moderator they use.

Yes, I add my thanks for these minutes, Quincy (little late for me; better than never?).

Jeff Merrifield has been mentioned very few times on this forum: once here and in the following post by "jaro" (why are members here so shy in the ID department?). Merrifield was on BOTH panels for the s.2795 and H.R.4979 hearings last April. At the very end of the Senate hearing, he managed to squeeze in a mentioned of "molten salts." I held my breath they'd avoid mention of specific fuel cycle and they did.
