Post subject:  Holos helium gas cooled SMR

Helium gas cooled design, using TRISO pebble assemblies, from Claudio Filippone (the CAESAR designer).

Aiming to be very compact (single FEU cargo container sized), and something about being subcritical via a quad split design moving the four RPV modules closer together to achieve criticality (wow, hate to see a demon core style accident where the modules are stuck together...). Primary loop is helium turning a helium turbine for power generation, with final heat dump being air (using ORC secondary loop cooled by forced air it seems).

Signature example is marine propulsion electrical power for a cargo container ship.

Design kinda resembles an ANP direct cycle design with the turbine integration, as well as the Nuclear Outboard...

I am somewhat sceptical: how is criticality exactly achieved with these Holos subcritical power modules ? The previous CAESAR concept by Claudio Filippone was also received with lots of scepticism.

I got the impression that the fuel cartridges being quarter cylinders and the discussion about mission critical actuators, that the physical quarter cylinder modules are brought together in close proximity to achieve criticality, as together, they form a full cylinder (assuming the outer circumference has some sort of neutron reflector setup).
